Ags 5-0 Once Again
After another slow start, Trevor Knight and Trayveon Williams led the Aggies to a 24-13 victory over South Carolina. It was pretty ugly from start to finish. Aggies were missing four starters in Myles Garrett, Jermaine Eluemunor, Ricky Seals-Jones, and Speedy Noil. It got worse when Keith Ford exited the game after his first carry.
But despite the attrition, the Aggies depth came through and A&M was able to secure the win. A few highlights from the game included this insane 1-handed grab by Jeremy Tabuyo…
…and another impressive TD run by Trayveon Williams.
For the third straight year, the Aggies have reached the 5-0 mark. And for the third straight year, they find themselves in the top 10 facing a highly ranked in-conference matchup. Last year the Aggies lost to Alabama 41-23 in week 6. The year before it was a 48-31 loss to Dak Prescott and the Bulldogs.
Coach Sumlin says that this teams different than last year and the year before. We’ll find out on Saturday.
Coaching Carousel Ramping Up
Last week LSU kicked off the coaching carousel with a bang by firing Les Miles just 4 games into the season. They immediately made their intentions known; they want Tom Herman.
Then on Saturday, Texas dropped their second straight loss to an unranked opponent. We’re certainly a long way from Texas’ win against Notre Dame. The media proclaimed that “Texas was back!” Now the headlines read a little different as Charlie Strong is all but finished in Austin.
Did the possibility of missing out on Tom Herman put more pressure on Strong? Definitely. Has Strong, touted as a defensive guru, fielded the worst defense in the Big 12? Yes again. Barring a drastic turnaround, the Texas head coaching job will be open once again for the 2nd time in just 3 years.
Other coaches that figure to be on thin ice; Gus Malzahn at Auburn, Clay Helton at USC, Brian Kelly at Notre Dame, and Mark Helfrich at Oregon. It will be fascinating to see, but this could end up being the best coaching carousel in recent memory.

The Vols needed last second heroics to beat Appalachian State in the season opener and Georgia last weekend. They struggled in the first half against Florida and Ohio, and the first quarter against Virginia Tech. This is a team that limps out of the gates but finds a way to win games down the stretch. And after the last second Hail Mary against Georgia, many people are likening this team to the 2013 Auburn team of destiny.
This A&M team has a different feel to it as well. They’re committed to the run game and have the play makers to execute. The offensive line, a big question mark going into this season, has been downright impressive. And the wide receiver group is still the best in the SEC, if not the nation.
The defensive continues to bring relentless pressure. Nationally, they are 12th in points allowed, 2nd in tackles for loss, and 3rd in red zone defense. The boast the top defensive end tandem in the nation and one of the top safety groups as well. This is a defense that plays fast and fearless. Kind of reminiscent of…
