On Tuesday night, Sumlin met with Kyler and Kevin Murray. Presumably, the Murray’s discussed Kyler’s future in relation to baseball and the A&M football program. With Kyle Allen announcing a transfer last week, it is less than ideal for Kyler to play baseball rather than participating in Spring football practice; a potential point of conflict.
All that being said, some close to the program have stated that the meeting did not go well.
Then today, Billy Liucci cited Kyler Murray’s impending transfer according to his sources. However, nothing official has been announced regarding the possible transfer.
Then during the post-practice press conference, Sumlin stated that he expected Kyler to be back tomorrow and starting in the bowl game against Louisville.
If the rumors and rampant speculation are just that, just chalk this day up to a lot of undue heartburn. But if Kyler does in fact transfer, then the Aggies have serious problem on their hands. One 5-star quarterback transfer was expected. But both transferring would paint a picture of internal dysfunction that starts and ends with Sumlin.
