Meet the New Offensive Recruits

The 1st day of summer prep has arrived for A&M football. This also marks the first day that the entire 2015 recruiting class is on campus. Offensive early enrollees Christian Kirk, Damion Ratley, Jordan Davis, and Keaton Sutherland have been on campus since January and have a step up on the competition after going through spring camp. Let’s look at the offensive recruits who will be joining them.

QB Kyler Murray (5-star recruit) – 5’11” 170lbs. – Allen, TX
Best Texas HS football player ever? Murray won 3 straight state championships with a 43-0 record. At A&M he will challenge and push Kyle Allen while certainly getting meaningful game reps. With two 5-stars competing for the starting position, the future is very bright in Aggieland.

QB Jake Hubenak (4-star recruit) – 6’3” 210lbs. – JUCO Blinn C.C.
The news of Jake committing to A&M came on the heels of Kyler announcing that he would forgo the MLB Draft. In less than a week, the Aggies went from one scholarship quarterback to three. Jake notched 47 touchdowns and 4,052 yards in just 8 games played at Blinn C.C.

RB Jay Bradford (4-star recruit) – 5’11” 190lbs. – Splendora, TX
The Class 3A state title holder in the 100 meters and long jump, Bradford brings elite speed to the Aggie running game. He is a redshirt candidate for 2015 with Tra Carson, James White, and Brandon Williams ahead of him in the depth chart.

RB Kendall Bussey (3-star recruit) – 5’8” 198lbs. – New Orleans, LA
The Aggies bowling ball of a running back just wants to know why there isn’t a Waffle House in College Station.

WR Kemah Siverand (4-star recruit) – 6’1” 190lbs. – Cypress, TX
Siverand rounds out A&M’s wide receiver recruiting with both Christian Kirk and Damion Ratley being early enrollees. He tested well at a Nike camp in Houston earning an invite to The Opening. Although one of the top wide receivers in the state, Siverand is a redshirt candidate given the depth at the wide receiver position.

OL Trevor Elbert (4-star recruit) – 6’6” 292lbs. – Rockwall, TX
Elbert’s commitment continues the pipeline of Rockwall-Heath trench warriors to A&M. He will reunite with former teammate Jay Arnold. The consensus 4-star has a huge frame and plenty of room to still grow into. Expect him to redshirt in 2015 and continue the pipeline of Aggie lineman to the NFL.

OL Connor Lanfear (4-star recruit) – 6’6” 270lbs. – Buda, TX
Ricky Seals-Jones, Otaro Alaka, and now Connor Lanfear; three very different players with one big thing in common. They were all committed to Texas at one point but flipped to the good guys before signing day. Lanfear is just the latest example of Sumlin strong-arming Strong on the recruiting trail.

OL Erik McCoy (3-star recruit) – 6’5” 305lbs. – Lufkin, TX
Just a day after landing an offer, Erik McCoy verbally committed to the Aggies. He exhibits solid strength and an ability to absorb top defensive tackles. As a result, McCoy projects at center for A&M and could be in line to step into Mike Matthews shoes.
