On Wednesday Coach Sumlin alluded to landing another recruit during his post signing day presser. The “YESSIR!” came yesterday evening as the top punter/kicker specialist in the nation joined the 2016 recruiting class. This is a welcome addition as the Aggies will be losing both of their specialists, Drew Kaser and Taylor Bertolet, after next season. Both Braden Mann and 2015 recruit Daniel LaCamera will battle for kicker and punter duties in the 2016 season.
Braden Mann checks in as the 2nd best kicker and 3rd best punter according to Khol’s Kicking Camp. No other person in the nation is top 5 in both categories making Braden a truly elite dual specialist. In 2014 he earned just a few awards (Khol’s Kicking All American Punter, Unanimous selection for 1st Team All District, and All Greater Houston Team). Over his career he has made 48 of 50 extra point attempts and 14 of 17 field goals. Furthermore, during the 2014 season, he averaged 40.7 yards on punts. In comparison, the Aggies All-American punter Drew Kaser averaged 44.1 yards per punt this past season.
