Inside Look: Defensive Line

As A&M enters the offseason, there are several factors that will shape how this team will look next year; departing juniors and seniors, incoming recruits, and returning starters. We will highlight each defensive position group leading up to National Signing Day.

The level of recruiting on the defensive line the past couple of years has been as good as anywhere in the country. And now those dividends will begin paying off with many of these players entering their sophomore and junior years. Their experience and size will make them quite formidable next season and a headache for opposing quarterbacks.

The graphs below depict the recruiting classes and scholarship breakdowns these players fall into. Classifications look forward to 2015 season.

The Aggies only lose one starter to graduation in Ivan Robinson. Otherwise, all other starters and major contributors return for the 2015 season. What used to be an area of weakness for the Aggies could be one of its biggest strengths next year.

Recruiting on the defensive line has every chance to finish on a high note. After losing Daylon Mack, the coaching staff is right back in it for the 5-star recruit following the Chavis hire. Additionally, 4-star Bama commit T.D. Moton has expressed interest in the Aggies but he’s a qualifying risk. The Aggies need to close on at least one of these players to keep the defensive lineman pipeline filled.
