Texas A&M is losing a great coach and even better recruiter in WR Coach David Beaty. According to Bruce Feldman, the former Kansas offensive coordinator will accept the vacant head coaching position at Kansas.
In Beaty’s first two seasons at A&M, his receivers broke nearly every receiving record that A&M held. He helped mold Mike Evans from a RS Freshman with only 1 year of competitive football experience into the #7 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. In 2013, the Aggie WR group set team records for total receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, and completion percentage.
Beaty’s accomplishments were not limited to just the field. He is arguably the Aggies best recruiter and was responsible for landing players such as DE Myles Garrett and WR Josh Reynolds last year. Myles Garrett crushed the A&M and SEC record for most sacks in a season by a freshman. Meanwhile, Josh Reynolds was an overlooked JUCO wideout who has tied the Aggie record for receiving touchdowns in a season and has a chance to break the record in the upcoming bowl game. If that wasn’t enough, Beaty was credited with singlehandedly pulling in 10 commits in the 2013 class.
Best of luck to David Beaty and his new opportunity at Kansas. The Ags will have a very difficult time filling his shoes.
