Gambling Guide: Edition 9

Go figure. The first time we both pick against A&M, they pull off one of the biggest upsets in school history. Message received universe. Not picking anymore A&M games this year (we’re a superstitious bunch over here).

That still leaves us with plenty of action around the SEC. There is South Carolina vs Florida, two teams that are trending hard in opposite directions. #9 Auburn faces #15 Georgia in a battle of who can be the best two loss team in the country. Arkansas finds themselves favored against #17 LSU despite having lost 17 consecutive conference games. And last but certainly not least, #1 Mississippi St travels to Tuscaloosa to face #5 Alabama in a matchup that could very well determine who represents the SEC in this year’s playoff.

9th Edition

  1. LSU – The fact that Arkansas is favored in this game completely perplexes me. Remove the fact that Arkansas hasn’t won an SEC conference game in 17 tries and it still doesn’t make any sense. LSU has a quality 5 point loss to #1 Mississippi St, was 50 seconds away from beating #5 Bama outright, and handed #10 Ole Miss their first loss. This is a team that has steadily improved throughout the season and should have no issues extending Arkansas’ losing streak. Bet the tigers big here.
  2. Mississippi St. – Vegas LOVES Bama. How else do you explain the #1 team in the nation being an 8 point dog. Can’t say that I’ve ever seen it before. Mississippi St brings a balanced offensive attack and a veteran defense into a bruised and battered Bama squad. They have every opportunity to win this game outright so the TD+ point spread is an absolute gift. Take it and run.
  3. Florida – The Gators followed up their beatdown on Georgia with another thrashing to Vandy giving them their longest conference win streak since October 5th, 2013. Sad, but true. A team that has been down and out for over a year is now playing with more confidence than ever. Meanwhile, South Carolina has lost 4 consecutive conference games which is their longest losing streak since November 10th, 2007. With Florida’s punishing run game and South Carolina’s porous defense, this game could get out of hand early.

Season Tally
Jonathan – 25/49 correct for 51.0%
Daniel – 20/49 correct for 40.8%
