SEC Power Rankings: Week 4

Another week of college football, another SEC West team in the top 25. Mississippi State shocked everyone with their dominant beatdown of LSU in Death Valley. They join the likes of Alabama, Auburn, A&M, Ole Miss, and LSU in the top 25 rankings. And if we’re being honest, Arkansas has been impressive enough to earn a top 25 nod after destroying Texas Tech and Northern Illinois in back to back weeks. The SEC West is absolutely brutal and A&M still has every single team left on the schedule. As it stands now:

Arkansas (Dallas)
@ #14 Mississippi State
#10 Ole Miss
@ #3 Alabama
@ #5 Auburn
Missouri
#17 LSU

For those counting, that’s 5 ranked games remaining and 3 of which are on the road. So how does the SEC West stack up against the SEC East? Well after Mizzou and Florida suffered embarrassing losses, the power rankings are quite lopsided. Even South Carolina looked less than impressive against a flailing Vanderbilt program. The only SEC East team that impressed this past weekend was Georgia, who steamrolled Troy 66-0. As a result, they are the only team above ANY team from the SEC West.

Here are the groupings:

Top (1-5): Auburn, Texas A&M, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia
Middle (6-9): Mississippi St, LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina
Bottom (10-14): Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
