Johnny Manziel Drafted by Padres

ImageAnd with the 837th pick of the 2014 MLB Draft, the San Diego Padres select Johnny Manziel from Texas A&M. Although Johnny Manziel was quite the baseball player in high school, he has seldom picked up a bat since then. When he has, it is apparent that he hasn’t lost his skill. Just last year he participated in batting practice with the Padres and knocked one out of the park. He apparently impressed.

He also was invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the Padres 2013 season opener. Manziel is not the first NFL quarterback to be drafted by the MLB. He joins Colin Kaepernick (Cubs), Russell Wilson (Orioles), Michael Vick (Rockies), and Tom Brady (Expos). The Padres drafted him with their 28th round pick and have listed him at short stop.
