Aggies have landed the top JUCO safety in the nation, Justin Evans. At 6’1” 185lbs, Evans clocks a 4.48 second 40 yard dash and boasts a 32 inch vertical. He is the biggest recruiting win to date for new defensive backs coach Terry Joseph. Evans had an offer list that included Georgia, Auburn, Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Baylor. In the end, he chose the Aggies without even stepping on campus.
Evans is set to graduate in December of 2014 and could win a starting position in his first year with the team. Both Howard Matthews and Floyd Raven figure to start at Strong Safety and Free Safety next season. Both are seniors that will graduate leaving a big hole to fill for the coaching staff. With little depth at the position, Justin Evans will have every opportunity to work his way into the starting lineup.
Last season at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Evans racked up 47 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. His contributions helped his team to an 8-2 record.
