The recruiting rankings have yet to rank the 2016 class but all signs point to Patrick Hudson being a top blue-chip recruit (4-star or better). Last week, Brian Perroni released his list of top Texas recruits for the 2016 class. Hudson came in at #4 on that list and has plenty of time to even move up. He has yet to even play a snap his junior season.
At 6’6” 320 lbs., Hudson moves very well for his size. In his Hudl highlight film, he consistently gets to the second level in his blocks. When he is assigned a defensive lineman, he drives that lineman back into the linebacker level causing major disruption. This effectively blocks the linebackers’ path and ability to make a play on the running back. Finally, Hudson tries to make a statement on every block by “pancaking” the person in front of him.
This is a major pickup for coach Sumlin and the first of the 2016 class. Patrick Hudson has the size, frame, and competitive drive to develop into an elite offensive lineman at the next level.
